January to March is a great time to visit Zanzibar, with hot, sunny days and excellent diving conditions—especially on the south coast. From mid-March, the weather shifts as the long rains approach, peaking in April and May with heavy downpours and humid, wet conditions.

Dry Season: May–October

The short rains usually begin in November, bringing brief afternoon showers after warm, sunny mornings. By December, the weather improves with more sunshine leading into Christmas and New Year. It’s also the best time to visit Mafia Island for unforgettable whale shark diving.
